" If you happen to be in Newport, Spaccio Italiano is a must! The owners are super nice. The pizza is amazing and the gelato is great -- try cotton candy! "

Our Story

What We Serve is What We Eat

Our owners, Franca and Luciano, were both born and raised in Italy. Twenty years ago through his business travels, Luciano discovered Laguna Beach, which became an annual destination for family vacations. In 2014, he and Franca decided to move their family to Laguna Beach permanently.

Franca hails from the gorgeous Piemonte region of Italy, which borders Switzerland and France and is surrounded by the majestic Alps. The area is famous for its beautiful landscapes, Medieval castles, and delectable chocolate, wines, truffles and cheeses.

Luciano was born in the Marche region of Italy. Le Marche is a beautiful countryside nestled between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. Besides its breathtaking scenery, Le Marche is best known for its cuisine.

In Italy, food is carefully selected from local markets, emphasizing high quality and minimal ingredients. Each dish prepared with thoughtful anticipation of gathering with loved ones.

At Spaccio Italiano, we bring the same passion to the food we prepare and serve.

We use pure foods imported from Italy and locally sourced produce and eggs whenever possible. We make our gelato, bread, and pastries fresh daily. Our imported Italian Prosciutto Crudo di Parma is meat and salt — no sugar or other additives.

We import our food from Italy and, whenever possible, from our owners’ home regions (including the cacao and chocolate used in our homemade gelato!).

What Luciano and Franca serve is what they prepare and eat in their own home. That is, traditional Italian cuisine prepared with the same fresh ingredients their family eats daily.

We look forward to sharing our passion for authentic Italian street food and culture with you! Buon Appetito!
